PITT Is Officially A 'Bastard'

Überstar Brad Pitt has closed his deal to act in "INGLORIOUS BASTARDS", the WWII drama that Quentin Tarantino will direct for The Weinstein Co. and Universal. Additionally, Nastassja Kinski is in early talks to play one of the sole female roles in the film. Casting the German-born actress jibes with Tarantino's habit of resuscitating dormant careers. Lensing is set to start on Oct. 13 in Germany. Tarantino, who wrote also the script, aims to have the film ready for next year's Cannes Film Festival. [SVR/FILM-TV.COM]

TILDA SWINTON's Own Film Fest

Academy Award winning actress Tilda Swinton is joining Robert De Niro (TRAILER) and Robert Redford's club of film festival founders. Extravagantly branded & named, "The Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams" out of the box film festival will be held in a rented ballroom in her home town of Nairn in northern Scotland at the end of August. Swinton decided to create - and pay for - a fest that would run 8 1/2 days and that would be a six out of 10 on the grunge scale. Home-made cakes and fish finger sandwiches will be served and the bash's tickets would be only £3/£2 according to the event's website. [J.B./FILM-TV.COM]
